Catalyst was founded by Chris Alderson and Mike Harrison, both experts in their respective fields of innovation tax incentives and industry. They share a common passion for entering the Research and Development tax incentive space and their motivations distil into two areas:

Helping People and Businesses

People grow businesses, and we love working with people. Relationships are key – our goal is to support clients to claim tax incentives for their eligible R&D activities. But if the work done does not qualify as R&D for the purposes of the tax incentive, we are open about the reasons and committed to explaining why.

Chris's eureka moment came early on, helping a husband and wife start up receive enough support so they were able to onboard their first employee. "It was really rewarding, to be part of their joy at what the R&D Incentive would do to their lives."

Mike’s engineering and manufacturing business grew by making technological advances, finding and solving diverse challenges, not realising there were R&D tax incentives he could benefit from. "Missing out on earlier years of R&D claims drives me to ensure that others meeting HMRC’s guidelines learn from my mistakes", he says.
