Catalyst R&D

Our first insight – Catalyst is growing!

21.03.2025

Catalyst has just turned 3 months old and what 3 months it has been. The team continues growing, winning competitive pitches, delivering for our clients and growing our personality. We want to share a bit more going forwards about us, our people and our interests – what makes us tick.

We are all so passionate about innovation in the UK, particularly in seeing companies grow and develop. We are here day in and out to do our bit to see UK Innovation thrive; whether it’s helping business’s hire, do more innovation or just grow. We are very fortunate to witness so many groundbreaking advances in technology and science, and we want to share some of these stories with you — so you can experience them too.

But we couldn’t really start off with any other topic than saying that we were so pleased this week that Charlotte Fletcher has joined our team as our first Client Project Manager!

Charlotte brings so much value to Catalyst, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on board. We all wanted you to have the opportunity to get to know her a bit better. Charlotte comes to us from NEPIC, a not-for-profit membership organisation supporting the process and manufacturing industries in the North East of England. As Pharmaceutical Project Manager, she led delivery activities for the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector and managed member accounts within the cluster.

With Charlotte joining it means we now have two Doctors across the wider team and it’s a fierce competition to see who has the coolest PhD topic. Charlotte completed her PhD at the University of Bristol in 2024, during which time she played a pivotal role in the development of a novel vaccine for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Naturally we find this really fascinating over at Catalyst – so we cannot quite leave it there, we will add something to Charlotte’s to do list next week by getting her to tell us all about it in more detail!

In her first week, we had Charlotte and Chris travelling all over the North East, meeting accountants, client and prospects (Chris apologises for all the football chat Charlotte but Newcastle had just won their first Cup in 70 years!). Charlotte has prepared pitch documents, been involved with kicking off claims and is already making process improvements as our CRM champion. She has rolled up her sleeves and just dived straight in.

When she’s not working, Charlotte enjoys running, walking in the countryside and dabbles in a bit of birdwatching at her local nature reserve. She is a keen cook and baker (albeit not so good at decorating), and enjoys gardening. She claims that she “isn’t great at any of her hobbies” but it appears to us that she is rather good at everything she tries her hand at! Chris is particularly keen to have another runner on board but will give her a few months grace before he starts trying to persuade her to join in on some ultra marathon adventures. It’s just a long walk in the countryside really.

Welcome to the Catalyst family, Charlotte!
